The Rev Alex McAspurren has been invited to preach as Sole Nominee for the ministry at Craigmillar Park linked with Reid Memorial. He will be preaching in both congregations on Sunday 17 March 2019. He will be preaching in Craigmillar Park at 9.45am and then at Reid Memorial at 11.15am. After Mr McAspurren has preached, members of the congregations whose names are on the Electoral Registers will be invited to vote in a secret ballot to say whether they wish to call him as our new minister. The votes of both congregations will be mixed, then counted, and we expect the result to be declared on Sunday 24 March at the morning services.
Mr McAspurren was ordained in 2002 and has served in parishes in Edinburgh, Stevenston and Corby; he has been minister at Leith North since 2011. He has a qualification in substance misuse management and a long-standing interest in homelessness and addiction issues. He has been involved with Street Pastors and with local foodbanks, is a member of the Church of Scotland’s Society, Religion and Technology Project, is a recognised mentor for people exploring their call to ministry and is an occasional radio and television broadcaster on faith issues.
All are welcome at either service on 17 March although only registered members and adherents of the congregations are eligible to vote.
